Sandi shipley photography
My internship was at Sandi Shipley Photography, a self run business in Phoenix, Arizona. Sandi specializes in taking senior portraits. I chose this internship because of my passion for photography and my interest in working in photography in the future.

PREPARATION & ANTICIPATION:
04/08/19
For my LINK Internship, I will be traveling down to Phoenix, Arizona to intern with Sandi Shipley Photography. This is not my first choice for my LINK Internship. I had previously wanted to go more down a fashion/ marketing path. I had originally planned to intern with a fashion/ marketing person up in Denver, Colorado. But due to complications with the timing and commitment, I had to go with photography. Even though I am still interested in photography, I do wish I kept a search for the same field I originally planned. I am still very excited to be interning with a photographer. I feel that I might learn a few new techniques and skills to help with my photos.
REFLECTION:
05/17/19
For this 3-week internship, I got an opportunity to work alongside Sandi Shipley at Sandi Shipley Photography in Phoenix, Arizona. I spent time assisting her on her photo shoots, holding the reflector, observing angles and ideas for the future. Arranged photos for her blog post. I felt I learned a lot about running a self-run business. The connections and communications between clients. Using social media to put your name out there in the photography world. I'm not too big on social media. However, I learned that updating your social media helps attract clients. Overall, this experience has helped me grow as a photographer and help guide me more toward some new opportunities. Through the course of these 3-weeks, I managed to have to face a few challenges. In my second week of LINK Internship, there were some complications with my schedule and didn't go in for that week. I managed to use that time and take some photos and scout for a new photo shoot. Since I didn't go in for the second week of my internship my final project was canceled, due to not enough time to contact models and outfits/ location. So my final project I had to do on my own time. It did, however, work out in the end. Even though, this wasn't my first choice for my internship. I did manage to learn some new techniques that are very helpful in the near future. I do think that this internship helped me grow as a photographer.
my project:
For my LINK project, I chose to create a website for myself showcasing my photos throughout the years . Using photos from previous photo shoots and the photo shoot I took during my LINK Internship, I was able to show my work progress. I was able to take the things I learned on my internship and create a portfolio.
