Project Reflection:
My project was primarily focused on the Dakota Acess Pipeline and why it should be stopped. My essential questions were: Is it possible to stop the construction? What effects could it potentially have on the climate and the lives of the Native Americans? Could Native Americans compensate with the loss of their land? During the exhibition, I presented a poem on the Dakota Access Pipeline having an effect on the climate change and the lives of the people, and also a painting of a political cartoon that I found that speaks to my project. After doing research on my topic and seeing both sides of this argument I have seen that people don't seem to think that the Dakota Access Pipeline is bad, that they bring opportunities for us Americans. My side and opinions I believe haven't changed. Yes, this pipeline could bring us opportunities to help our economy but we need to think of the larger picture; think of the land we'd be robbing, and the effect this could have on our climate. Throughout this project, I was able to have a 'willingness to disturbed' when conducting an empathy interview with a family member who thought this construction was a good idea. I realized that from my standpoint I didn't know the complete story of the what was actually going on. That I could listen and hear from another standpoint regardless of their bias and opinions.
