Question #1: What are human rights?

Human rights apply to all human beings regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination. (UN "Human Rights") Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law in forms of treaties, declaration, and international laws. These laws and declarations of human rights has the obligation of governments to act or refrain from certain acts, in order to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms of individuals (OHCHR "Human Rights"

Question #2: How can human rights be violated?
To violate the most basic human rights, on the other hand, is to deny individuals their fundamental moral entitlements. Sometimes taking action on different groups of people and treating them as if they are less than human and undeserving of respect and dignity. Various types of these violations are genocide, torture, slavery, rape, and starvation. Violations of political and economic rights are the root causes of many crises. (Maiese) An example of a human right violation can be see in health care. It can have serious health consequences. Mental health is still given inadequate attention in public health, in spite of the high levels of violence, poverty and social exclusion that contribute to worse mental and physical health outcomes for people with mental health disorders. Violations of human rights not only contribute to and exacerbate poor health, but for many, including people with disabilities, indigenous populations, women living with HIV, sex workers presents a risk of heightened exposure to human right abuses. Question #3: How does corruption impact human rights?
Corruption negatively impacts all human rights- civil, political, economic, social and cultural. The impact the rights to food, water, education, health and the ability to seek justice can be violated. For example, corruption undermines the fairness of institutions and processes and distorts policies and priorities. In countries where corruption pervades government and legal systems weaken the very accountability structure which is responsible for protecting human rights. Corruption and the violation of human rights comprise a social phenomenon that concerns the distribution of benefits among different groups of people and individuals.
Question #4: What countries or groups are affected the most by corruption
"Corruption is the most neglected human rights violation of our time. It fuels injustice, inequality, and deprivation, and is a major catalyst for migration and terrorism." The social and political corruption begin neglected right now is in Africa. It robs the nation’s resources and drives inequality and radicalization. "A joint report by the African Development Bank and Global Financial Integrity found that up to 65% of this lost revenue disappeared in commercial transactions by multinational companies." This corruption destroys investors and leaves the country strangling in prosperity."We need to give Uncac muscle by joining the moral and legal dots between corruption, human rights abuses, and international crimes. Acknowledging the negative human rights impact of corruption makes it imperative for African states to provide better protection to their citizens."(Plessis)
