proposal summary:
I am proposing an art piece on corruption and human rights that will initially engage students and people in the community. It will target certain situations of violations of human rights, to bring knowledge and awareness.
audience:
As of right now, my target audience is Animas High School students and staff. If I advocate enough I could potentially have this be displayed in a place where the people of Durango will see. To get the message of what often goes unnoticed in the public eye. The violations of human rights effects everyone so why not spread the message to everyone.
why does it matter?
Human rights are liberties that allow all people to live with dignity, freedom, equality, justice, and peace. They are guaranteed to everyone without discrimination of any kind. As we read in the news, in places like Africa, Guatemala, and Brazil these people are experiencing violations of their basic human rights. They suffer abuse and health consequences. Violations exist in every part of the world. Bringing recognition on such a devastating topic can create a platform as a community and eventually the world to assure justice and equality to every group and individual.
visual representation:
This art piece I am proposing to represent the corruption in human rights. Have the scales of justice, which represent the balance of the individual against the needs of society and a fair balance between the interests of one individual and those of another. But the person holding the scale is blindfolded to represent the non-biased. Not to discriminate based on race, gender, religion and political stance. That everyone is equal and fair.
