Student-Driven Campus Design:
Project Reflection:
The whole freshman class were divided into groups and took on the design thinking process. This process would give a challenging task of designing the new Animas High School campus. when designing a new building you need to hear the values of others. So, we conducted a series of interviews of the Animas staff and students of what values each individual has. There was a step by step process to designing a building and in the end we need to have prototypes of the campus and the shared space design. The final outcome were put into poster along with our Design Abstract and Budget for our shared space to be presented to the board members of the school. When looking back on this project I felt that my group collaboration were being tested. Being in a group with people I don't ordinarily talk to pushed me to test my introvert self. Throughout this project our group was continuously off task and me being an introvert I didn't step in and be a leader. By the end of this project I have gained a understanding and better strategies when working in groups. One of my biggest take aways was what I've learned about the design process. The long process it takes and what we used to design the school. I believe that the students and the teachers are the main users of the school. It's important for each individual's voice to be heard in the design process. It helps fit the user's satisfaction and be more comfortable in their own atmosphere.
